Cecil Castellucci will help teens create stories that are out of this world

Great story on an upcoming salon that Cecil Castellucci will be running for teen writers…and it includes the Space Tales Theater episode featuring my short story “Sometimes Aliens Go To Prom.”

Which may or may not end up extended into a full novel at some point.  I’ve had ideas.  But until THAT happens, you need to check out Cecil’s new book First Day on Earth.  It’s about a boy who may have been abducted by aliens befriending another boy who may actually be an alien.  Then again, in both cases, maybe not.  And maybe it doesn’t matter.

Cecil Castellucci’s THE TIN STAR and A STONE IN THE SKY, a two part series pitched as Casablanca recast, re-envisioned, and set on a space station, to Nancy Mercado at Roaring Brook Press, by Kirby Kim at William Morris Endeavor (NA).

Oh MAN.  Cecil rocks my world.  Seriously, if you haven’t checked out her other books already you should.  All of her stuff is good, but for the sort of folks who tend to follow me?  I highly recommend Boy Proof and Beige, as well as both volumes of the P.L.A.I.N. Janes book she did with artist Jim Rugg (DAMN YOU D.C. FOR ENDING THE MINX LINE AND CUTTING JANES SHORT!).

I’d also love to see P.L.A.I.N. Janes as a movie.  Seriously, a group of outcasts named Jane who start an all-girl art gang?  TELL ME we don’t need something like that right now!
