Our Exquisite Corpse
You’re getting this Snarking Out column while Raw’s “Power to the People” Edition plays in the background. But honestly, I can’t sit on this anymore. See, I’m aware that there’s definitely loyalists when it comes to WWE and Impact wrestling. And I’m aware that, as someone who watches wrestling, I may be asked to declare my allegiance to one or the other at some point.
Hence “The Continued Debate”
So, lemme be blunt: when it comes to women’s wrestling, I am going to watch Impact over WWE any day of the week.
And I could go into a long column here pointing out that WWE seems to have no idea what to do with their genuinely talented women, resulting in their releases and subsequent jumping ship to Impact (Mickie James, Tara, Winter…and if Impact wishes to win me over completely, they will look into signing Serena Deeb), and that Impact is willing to not only have MULTIPLE women’s belts, but also multiple women’s feuds, some of which don’t involve titles at all. But honestly, I think the feelings on each organization’s approach to women’s wrestling can be summed up with a look at their belts:

Serious business looking title belt versus BEDAZZLED FUCKING BUTTERFLY.
Impact wins.
BUT, I also feel the need to point out: while Impact has more women’s actions and seems more concerned with finding women who are entertaining in the ring, they’re far from perfect. The Shannon Spruill saga, involving repeated injuries and a worker’s comp claim certainly can’t be ignored.
ALSO: with the WWE’s recent signing of Kharma, it’s possible they’re looking to step up their women…er DIVA’S division, and certainly no one could have seen her pregnancy announcement and sidelining coming. So, I’m sure it wasn’t their intent to put the Diva’s belt on the waist of Kelly Kelly…a waist most recently seen as part of Maxim’s Hot 100 List, which I’m sure has NOTHING to do with her current title reign. But that’s where we’ve ended up.
So, yeah, if I wanna watch women’s wrestling, I’ll hold out for TNA shows. And probably still go “Hey, remember when the WWE had Trish, Lita, Jazz, Ivory, Molly Holly and Victoria and actually USED them?”
